A Safe Roof for Mama Rebecca
After losing her husband in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rebecca fled with her four children to the Nakivale Refugee Camp in search of safety. For two years, they survived beneath a leaking plastic tarp that collapsed whenever heavy rains arrived, leaving the family exposed to harsh weather and uncertainty.
Through OWAID’s Permanent Housing Programme, Rebecca received a durable three-bedroom home built from mud bricks and iron sheets. For the first time in years, her family experienced security, stability, and the comfort of having a place to truly call home.

John's Journey to the Classroom
At nine years old, John had never stepped inside a classroom. As an orphan living in the Kyangwali Refugee Camp, education seemed impossible, and his future was filled with uncertainty.
Thanks to an annual refugee orphan education sponsorship of just $85.25, John now attends primary school with the tuition, books, and learning supplies he needs to succeed. Today he is learning to read, growing in confidence, and dreams of becoming a doctor so he can one day serve and care for others in his community.
