Our Story
Help continue a family’s commitment
to African orphans and widows.
OWAID’s story began in Nashville with a calling to stand alongside orphaned children and widows affected by displacement.

Our Story
Founded in Nashville in 2025.
The Venant and Joan Sindayigaya family established Orphans & Widows Aid out of a desire to respond to the hardship that war and crisis bring to families. James 1:27’s call to care for orphans and widows remains central to that purpose.
The family’s vision is to turn compassion into something a household can use: a durable roof, a child’s school supplies, a useful trade, healthcare access and the reassurance of not being forgotten.
A family commitment. An invitation to help.
Every donation.
For orphans and widows.
100% of donations go toward helping orphans and widows.
Since 2022, the Sindayigaya family has provided all monetary donations for this work, contributing $9,525. The family’s commitment began before OWAID was established in 2025.
The need has grown beyond what one family can manage. More orphaned children, widows and displaced refugees need tarpaulins, temporary shelter, food, medicine and a path toward lasting stability. We are inviting others to help continue and expand this care.
Help Continue This CareAn invitation to share the work.
OWAID brings together the willingness of supporters in Nashville and beyond with the experience of people in East and Central Africa. Each gift or partnership should have a clear purpose and a responsible path to use.
Our story continues through the people who choose to give, volunteer, pray, share practical skills or introduce the mission to their community.
Together, we can help
a family begin again.
Give toward a home, a school year or the everyday care that makes a future possible.
